To support our expanding programmes, partnerships, and 2026 strategic agenda, AFREHO is seeking a highly skilled Part‑Time Grant Writer to lead resource mobilization efforts across Africa and internationally.
Role Summary
The Grant Writer will play a central role in securing funding for AFREHO’s programmes, including the AFREHO Diamond Award 2026, the Executive Workshops Programme, and other institutional initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with proven experience in developing compelling proposals, donor engagement materials, and grant documentation.
This role requires exceptional writing skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to translate technical environmental health concepts into clear, persuasive narratives.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research & Prospecting
a. Identify funding opportunities from foundations, bilateral agencies, corporate donors, and international partners
b. Maintain an updated database of potential donors and grant cycles
c. Conduct background research to support proposal development
Proposal & Concept Note Development
a. Write high‑quality grant proposals, concept notes, letters of intent, and donor briefs
b. Develop compelling narratives that align AFREHO’s programmes with donor priorities
c. Ensure all submissions meet donor guidelines, deadlines, and technical requirements
Programme Documentation & Reporting
a. Support programme teams in developing project frameworks, budgets, and workplans
b. Prepare progress reports, donor updates, and post‑grant documentation
c. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all written materials
Donor Engagement & Communication
a. Support communication with donors, partners, and funding agencies
b. Draft partnership letters, institutional profiles, and fundraising materials
c. Strengthen AFREHO’s visibility through well‑crafted institutional documents
Internal Collaboration
a. Work closely with AFREHO leadership, programme teams, and event managers
b. Ensure proposals reflect AFREHO’s strategic priorities and professional standards
c. Contribute to resource mobilization strategies and annual fundraising plans
Required Qualifications
a. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Development Studies, Communications, or related fields. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
b. Proven experience writing successful grant proposals for NGOs, development agencies, or professional bodies
c. Strong research, analytical, and writing skills
d. Ability to translate technical information into clear, persuasive narratives
e. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
f. Familiarity with environmental health, public health, or sustainability sectors is an advantage
Preferred Competencies
a. Strong understanding of donor landscapes (local, continental, and international)
b. Ability to work independently and manage multiple submissions
c. Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills
d. Experience with project budgeting and logical frameworks is an added advantage
Work Arrangement & Compensation
a. Part‑time position with flexible working hours
b. Remote/Hybrid coordination (Nigeria & Africa‑wide)

d. Contract duration: May 2026 – December 2026 (renewable based on performance and funding availability)

As we prepare for the AFREHO Diamond Award 2026 and the 2026 Executive Workshops Programme, we invite applications from exceptional professionals for the role of Part‑Time Event Planning Manager.
Role Summary
The Event Planning Manager will lead the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of AFREHO’s flagship events for 2026. This includes the prestigious AFREHO Diamond Award, a continental recognition platform, and a series of high‑level executive workshops designed to strengthen environmental health leadership across Africa.
This role requires a highly organized, creative, and detail‑driven professional capable of managing complex programmes and engaging diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Event Strategy & Coordination
a. Develop comprehensive event plans, timelines, and implementation frameworks
b. Coordinate logistics, venue arrangements, programme flow, and technical requirements
c. Manage invitations, registrations, and participant communication
d. Liaise with speakers, facilitators, award nominees, partners, and institutional stakeholders
Programme Development
a. Support the design of event themes, agendas, and session structures
b. Ensure alignment with AFREHO’s strategic objectives and professional standards
c. Oversee the development of branded materials and event documentation
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
a. Engage sponsors, partners, and collaborators for the Diamond Award and workshops
b. Maintain professional communication with institutions, agencies, and media partners
c. Strengthen AFREHO’s visibility and stakeholder relationships
Communications & Publicity
a. Work with the communications team to develop promotional content and outreach campaigns
b. Support website updates, social media announcements, and event publicity
c. Ensure consistent, high‑quality messaging across all platforms
Event Delivery & Reporting
a. Oversee smooth execution of physical, virtual, or hybrid events
b. Conduct post‑event evaluations and prepare detailed reports
c. Recommend improvements for future programmes
Required Qualifications
a. Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Environmental Health, Public Health, Communications, or related fields. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
b. Proven experience in planning and managing conferences, workshops, or professional events
c. Strong organizational, multitasking, and project‑management skills
d. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
e. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams
f. Experience in the environmental health or development sector is an added advantage
