Workshop Topic

Circular Economy, Green Jobs and Sustainable Waste Management in Africa

Brief Introduction

Africa is undergoing rapid urbanization, population growth, and industrial expansion, all of which are increasing pressure on waste systems, natural resources, and public health. Traditional linear models of “take–make–dispose” are no longer sustainable.
The circular economy offers Africa a transformative pathway: turning waste into resources, creating new industries, and unlocking millions of green jobs across recycling, sanitation, agriculture, manufacturing, and renewable energy.
This training equips participants with the knowledge, tools, and practical skills to design, implement, and scale circular economy initiatives and sustainable waste management systems across African communities, cities, and institutions.
