The Africa Environmental Health Organization (AFREHO) is deeply committed to strengthening School Sanitation, Hygiene, and Safety (SSHS) across Nigeria and the wider African continent. Through our structured education, awareness, and inspection programmes, we work to ensure that every learning environment, urban or rural is clean, healthy, and fully supportive of children’s wellbeing. Our mission is rooted in the belief that no child should be exposed to preventable health risks while pursuing an education.

AFREHO in our routine activities has provided schools with essential hygiene promotion materials such as soap, hand sanitisers, litter control equipment, and other sanitation tools that encourage daily healthy habits. These interventions help reduce disease outbreaks, improve personal hygiene practices, and cultivate a culture of cleanliness among pupils, teachers, and school communities.

AFREHO also champions climate action initiatives that make schools safer and more resilient. We distribute and plant assorted seedlings including shade trees, and climate resilient species to help mitigate extreme weather conditions, reduce heat stress, and create greener, more habitable learning spaces. These projects not only beautify school environments but also empower young people with practical knowledge about environmental stewardship and climate responsibility.

To expand these life changing programmes across Nigeria and Africa, AFREHO is seeking strong partnerships and support from government institutions, private sector organisations, development agencies, civil society groups, and individuals who share our vision for a healthier continent.
