The 2023 Tree Planting Campaign is intended to create awareness and education of schools on Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Global Goal 13) on Climate Action.
Africa Environmental Health Organization (AFREHO) aligned with this goal by supporting the schools with assorted plant seedlings to strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to related disasters, and to build knowledge and capacity to meet climate change etc.
The campaign exercise carried out at LEA Agwan Dodo Primary School and Junior Secondary School, Gwagwalada, FCT become so expedient following different risks of disaster causing roof damages due to wind storm. Similarly, the school can not boast of any trees within the premises making it vulnerable to different shocks and stress as the case maybe.
Accordingly, these categories of pupils and students include teachers are exposed to extreme heat due to lack of trees within the school premises which can make learning so difficult. Extreme heat can cause heat stroke, allow the spread of cerebrospinal meningitis (CSM) and other health conditions etc.
AFREHO in an effort to make the world a better place with a focus on SDGs supported the schools with assorted plant seedlings and planted within the school premises as a way to reduce climate change impact and build resilient for the wellbeing of the teachers, pupils and students.
We equally enjoined the pupils, students and the teachers to monitor these plants and prevents necessary attacks by stray animals or pests for the benefits of all.
AFREHO CARES!!!

A good move. Let the campaign be extended to more Schools and even communities, especially those ravaged by extreme weather events.
Are there provisions for joining the Organization? Tackling climate challenges requires joint efforts. Yes, together we can save Africa.
